FAQs

What is BioCoat?
BioCoat™ is a line of plant-based protective coatings designed to improve surface durability, cleanability, and long-term performance in commercial and industrial environments.

What makes BioCoat different from traditional protective coatings?
BioCoat is designed to deliver strong coating performance while supporting safer and healthier indoor environments through plant-based chemistry and low VOC formulations.

What surfaces can BioCoat be used on?
BioCoat systems are designed for use on surfaces such as concrete, tile, grout, wood, and certain metal applications, depending on the specific coating system and substrate requirements.

Is BioCoat low VOC?
Yes. BioCoat is formulated with low VOC content to support indoor air quality goals and reduce concerns often associated with conventional coating systems.

Is BioCoat plant-based?
Yes. BioCoat is part of BioBond’s plant-based material platform, developed to bring modern protective coating performance to a wide range of applications.

What is BioCoat used for?
BioCoat is used to protect surfaces in spaces that need durability, chemical resistance, improved cleanability, and long-term appearance retention.

Where can BioCoat be used?
BioCoat can be used in commercial, industrial, and specialty environments such as garages, food facilities, public restrooms, assisted living spaces, veterinary facilities, and other demanding interiors.

What are the benefits of BioCoat protective coatings?
BioCoat coatings are designed to provide durability, strong substrate adhesion, improved cleanability, chemical resistance, and a more comfortable experience for occupied indoor environments.

How does BioCoat help protect surfaces?
BioCoat forms a durable protective layer that helps shield the substrate from wear, staining, repeated cleaning, and day-to-day exposure in demanding spaces.

Can BioCoat improve cleanability?
Yes. By creating a more sealed and durable surface, BioCoat systems can help make floors and other coated areas easier to maintain and easier to clean.

Does BioCoat help reduce surface staining?
Yes. A properly installed BioCoat system helps reduce surface porosity and can help protect against staining from common spills, traffic, and contaminants.

Is BioCoat a good option for high-traffic areas?
Yes. BioCoat is designed for environments where surfaces need to stand up to repeated use, regular cleaning, and long-term wear.

How durable is BioCoat?
BioCoat is engineered for long-lasting performance when installed on a properly prepared substrate and used as part of the correct system for the application.

Why is substrate preparation important before applying BioCoat?
Proper preparation is essential because coating performance depends heavily on surface condition, cleanliness, profile, and moisture control. Good prep helps the coating bond correctly and last longer.

Can BioCoat be used as part of a multi-layer system?
Yes. BioCoat products are often used as part of a complete coating system that may include a primer, base coat, decorative layer, and protective topcoat depending on the project goals.

Is BioCoat suitable for decorative floor systems?
Yes. BioCoat can be incorporated into decorative systems that use flakes, quartz, mica, or metallic effects, depending on the application and design intent.

What environments benefit most from BioCoat?
Environments that benefit most are those where durability, appearance, maintenance efficiency, and a healthier indoor experience all matter.

Can BioCoat stand up to harsh cleaners?
BioCoat systems are designed for demanding environments where frequent cleaning and exposure to maintenance chemicals are common. Final chemical resistance depends on the full system and application.

How does BioCoat support safer and healthier spaces?
BioCoat supports safer and healthier spaces through plant-based chemistry, low VOC formulations, and durable surfaces that are easier to maintain over time.

Is BioCoat made in the USA?
Yes. BioBond products are made in the USA.
